Long lines formed at the Best Buy in Charlottesville, as many waited to get their hands on the iPad2. The gadget went on sale Friday.
Apple spokespersons have said although the iPad2 is thinner and faster than the first iPad, it costs about the same.
Many area residents got up early so they could be sure to purchase the iPad2 while it was still available.
"I will use if for multiple things, from reading books to my grand-kids to watching movies," said Cliff Seltzer, who was the first person in line.
